BIOGRAPHY: MAMBO
(born Flavien Demarigny, 1968)
Lives and works in Montreuil, near Paris, France
After many years of research, Mambo has established his own language : the structure of his paintings comes from the interplay of lines and spontaneous designs, thus creating an expressive graphic universe, full of underlying meanings, combining observation, ambiguity and humour; the core theme is humanity.
The inspiration for his work is our brain, our mental processes : full of sensations, emotions, memories and reactions. Human behaviour is illustrated through faces, bodies, hands, eyes and mouths that become ideograms. In order to underline these feelings, he also highlights muscles, veins and fingerprints. Our environment becomes his dictionary, where he searches for logos, symbols, codes and signs to write his own prose : visual enigmas.
Mambo’s discourse is not imposed upon us, it intrigues us and leads us to memorise our own reflections.
INFINITE INTERACTIVE PAINTING
"The first thing that has attracted me to this project was the possibility of merging hand-made creation with high tech wizardry, to produce something that in the end, fits inside your pocket. What an extraordinary way to make art widely available... Next, the concept of infinite painting was a challenge worth solving while at the same time having to keep a tight dialogue between art and technology. The three paintings in this app represent a first milestone in this collaboration. Other milestones, more complex and perhaps crazier are yet to come! If you would like to be informed, just let me know".

Testimonials
"I relate the work of Flavien Mambo Demarigny to the late great artist, Keith Haring. From the caricature and whimsical work of animals and human faces to expressing concepts of birth, death, love, sex and war. Demarignys imagery has become a widely recognized visual language by producing work that is seen by millions of viewers on the TV show "Groland" (the French version of the Daily Show with Jon Stewart), to collaborating with fashion icons such as Muccia Prada and Agnes b. The same artwork produced for these commercial collaborations fluidly cross over into 10 meter high works for exhibitions and installations at the Sao Paolo street biennial and Centre Pompidou in Paris.
What I appreciate most about Mambo is his ability to blur the line between high, low, pop and fine art. However, most importantly, his work is a mirrored reflection of him as a person with the sincerity of his artwork reflecting how he is as a father, husband, artist and friend."
